Love, Dirt Bikes, Veggies & Meows :)

Sat 2/13: As mentioned in my previous posting, I got my car, Penelope, a wash. This was actually a little exciting...1. because she was absurdly dirty and needed some help and 2. I hadn't been through a car wash in years and it was rather entertaining. The excitement did not end here though... I ventured out to the Sierra Grille for drinks. Here I met lots of new people all there with a pal of mine. I made the number of us like 17... me and lots of couples :) It was fun meeting new interesting people, although I kind of felt like I checked my personality at the door with the guy who checks ids. The big new thing here was I tried a french fry from this place (definitely a first, as I would have remembered a potato this delicious). I can't believe I just ate one... so not only did I have one of the most delicious potatoes ever cooked, but I also kept it to 1 (could have something to do with the fact that I was among strangers and didn't want to introduce myself as a mooching cow).

Sat 2/14: Interesting day... good old V-Day. Also known as "Anna Howard Shaw Day" for those of you 30 Rock fans. I got to spend part of this day with good friends. One new thing - I watched dirt bike racing on television. The resident 2 year old wanted to watch racing, so that's what we watched while catching up and playing toys. I also watched part of the Daytona 500... really bizarre tv watching for me. Both firsts for me. Don't know that I'll be joining the NASCAR fan club or whatever the dirt bike racing organization is anytime soon, but it certainly was a first.

The activities of the latter half of the day were straight up cliche. And while I'm sure it's not the only time my actions have been cliche, it was the first time I can remember that I recognized it while happening. So on my way home, I bought myself some ice cream (nothing cliche about this act in itself). After some exercising, I proceeded to watch a movie on Lifetime while eating previously mentioned ice cream - by myself - on Valentine's (I mean Anna Howard Shaw) Day. Was not a high point of life, but for some reason I couldn't convince myself to go out by myself - something equally pathetic about sitting at a bar by myself or doing anything in public alone on this day. (no judgment here if you did any of these things... I just wasn't brave enough to do them).

Mon 2/15: I fell in love! With the Book Mill in Montague, that is. This has been on the list of places to check out for awhile now, and I can't believe it's taken me this long to get there. Set on a bank of a beautiful river, this old building is filled with all kinds of books, interesting people and a cafe serving local and delicious coffee and beer. I spent hours browsing the shelves and sipping some Joe. I bought myself the book, "Do You Think What You Think What You Think?" Super interesting book of philosophical quizzes about whether or not your thoughts/beliefs are consistent with what you think they are. I will be frequenting this place. I wouldn't be opposed to them knowing me by name :) This was a much needed fun filled adventure for this President's Day!

Tues 2/16: A few times in my life, I've attempted to fast or just eat raw fruits and veggies for a day, but have never made it a full day... until this day! After dinner on Monday night, I ate only raw fruits and vegetables, until Wednesday morning. It was a tough one (was rather hungry), but I have wanted to do this for awhile and was pretty impressed with myself for making it. Sometimes I really like to prove to myself that I can do something that I think will be a challenge... plus I've read that this can be really good for you. I know people who've done days of the full on fast and I have no idea how they can do it. Have a serious new found respect for them (much love Bill and Danielle...). But I have to say that I was psyched that I made the raw food for a day diet.

Wed 2/17: I don't know if I should disclose this, but after only fruits and veggies the previous day, I started this Wednesday out with a piece of chocolate! :) Oh well, it was super yummy and it was a new day. The new thing of the day was taking a swing dance class. I've attempted to swing dance at weddings and parties with no real knowledge about how to do it, but this class was great. There were only 2 people in the class and we both wanted to learn to follow - which could be challenging - but the teacher did well with it. So I got an hour lesson with just me and one other person. I don't think I'll be going pro yet, but caught on fast and think I'll be going back at some point soon (would be nice if there were a few more people - perhaps some leaders?) In any case, was a fun filled Wednesday night of dancing.

Thurs 2/18: Today I meowed in public in conjunction with about 90 other people. It was a request of the trivia man as a means to wish his girlfriend a happy birthday (Thursday night is trivia night and was a little concerned about finding a new thing of the day - I love when these random experiences present themselves). Definitely a new experience. And I think enough said... what else can I saw about meowing with 90 people as a happy birthday to a stranger? :)
