So, again, it's been about 3 weeks since the last installment of the 365 adventure... oops. It's really a good thing that I write these things down to remind myself of what I've been doing and have roommates to consult to fill in the blanks. In any case, the past three weeks feel as though they could have been about 3 months. They've been emotional weeks, have had some ups and downs - which is nothing new - generally the case - just maybe a little more extreme than other times.
Tues. 3/9: I went to Dana Farber Cancer Institute - new one in itself. Thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown while waiting in the many waiting rooms we sat in. But I was impressed with how very nice everyone was. At the end of a very long day there - bouncing from doc to doc and room to room, we got high 5's all around - oh yes, the head of the melanoma dept/professor at harvard, gave my mom, dad and I high fives when we got the head nurse to approve medicine for mi padre... turns out it wasn't worth the celebratory high 5's all around when we saw the side effects the next day, but at the time, seemed very appropriate.
Wed. 3/10: At 8 a.m. a coworker told me that I had super cool legs and that they were the first cool thing she'd seen all day (and she had been up for at least 2+ hours). Not in a sexual harassment kind of way, but just complimenting my tights - that's a pretty fun way to start a work day! :) This day was also the first time that a visit with my pal Heather had to be cancelled due to a trip to the hospital (not mine - and she's ok), but was rather disappointed that I didn't get to spend some q.t at the Grosso's.
Thurs. 3/11: I carpooled home with my pal, Monisha, from a training in Boston - a new experience. She's a fun time. I haven't spent that much time with her before and with all the time I spend alone in my car, it was a welcome distraction!
Fri. 3/12: Had a meeting in North Adams - not a new thing - but I met some new people from an agency and they are super nice - a good experience. I also went to a meeting of a community coalition in the area - which was pretty fascinating. The group meets on a monthly basis and this was the meeting that teens from the community hosted. They did a pretty good job, but I have to say that it really made me feel old.
I also went to a adios party to one of my colleagues at Fitzwilly's. Have been to Fitzwilly's, but have never gone to an adios party for Hector. :)
Sat. 3/13: In the a.m., I went to my parents and met my dad's work friends. They are super fun. And smart too, as they refer to him as, "Bill Perry, Extraordinaire!" It's pretty fantastic. I also watched Food Inc. - I'd wanted to see it, and the roomies and I had roomie q.t. and watched this flick before the big boxing fight (the male roomie is a big boxing fan... and sadly this wasn't the first fight I'd seen). In anycase - Food Inc is a good one - comes highly recommended. Not a ton of new stuff, but always good to remind myself why I don't eat meat and should try to make more of an attempt to avoid processed foods.
Sun. 3/14: I went grocery shopping with the roommates. We've lived in the apt. for more than 7 months, but this is the first time that the three of us went on a combined grocery shopping trip. It's tough, as we all eat differently and buy from different stores (they're close by, so we thought we'd attempt to be green and carpool) - 2+ hours later... we got home. Was a long outing, but we made it.
The other new thing I did on Sunday, was talk with my new Argentinian pal I met through Salsa - we made a plan to take a Salsa class on Tuesday night.
Mon. 3/15: Went to my parents after work and my "techie" skills (which are minimal) were requested. Their friends got my dad an itouch to help in the entertainment department while he's at home so much, so I set up my dad's itouch - downloaded some tunes. They are so hip :)
I know I'm not yet caught up, but this is where I stop tonight. Hoping I can motivate to do March Madness Part Deux later today or tomorrow...
